Living (Haiku)

Green leaf canopy
Wild nature living; thriving
Peaceful stillness flows

7/18-7/19/17

This is my response to Colleen’s Weekly #Poetry Challenge – #Haiku #Tanka #Haibun: CALM & WILD. I substituted “stillness” for “calm.”

Peaceful (Haiku)

Warm green peaceful day
Cut grass scents the air around
No more tears will fall

Poem #29 for National Poetry Writing Month (aka #NaPoWriMo)

This Haiku is my second response to Colleen’s Weekly #Poetry Challenge # 31 – PEACE & TEAR

Tears (a Tanka)

A dull aching pain
A tear tears across your face
The tears tear a hole
Through the middle of your soul
All you wanted was some peace.

Poem #28 for National Poetry Writing Month (aka #NaPoWriMo)

This Tanka is my first response to Colleen’s Weekly #Poetry Challenge # 31 – PEACE & TEAR

שלום (a tanka)

Peace: Absence of War
Shalom: Wholeness; Unity
Everything: Broken
A house divided can’t stand
The world soul must be healed.

12/13/16

Note:
שלום = Shalom (pronounced Sha-lome), the Hebrew word most commonly tramslated as “Peace,” but which more literally means, as stated in the poem, “wholeness.” See more here.

This tanka is my response to Colleen’s Weekly #Tanka #Poetry Prompt Challenge #12 – Peace & Spirit. I chose to use “soul” in place of “spirit.”
