Nothing to Fear (Tanka)

There is nothing to fear
About entering the tomb,
Nothing will happen
That didn’t happen to you
In the void before your birth.

Hallowed Lands (Tanka)

The enchanted mounds,
Possessed by the ancient sidhe,
Once revered as gods
Now forced under hollow hills
Still stalking our hallowed lands.

Enjoy the moments
As they come and pass away
Never to return.

Spellbound – Tanka

Spellbound, enchanted
Words of a cherished poet,
A salve for the soul,
Caressed by holy verses
Writ on pages now yellow.

Carpe Diem – a Tanka

Delicate rosebuds
Collected in the garden,
Sweet smell of summer,
Now just dried dead memories
As we all, someday, will be.

Brown hair turns gray
As a boy turns into a man.

The
Only
Thing I know
For certain is
That I don’t know anything for certain.

Time – a tanka

Regrets of the past,
The allure of the future,
Yet neither exist:
The only thing that’s real is
What is happening right now.

The Haunting

Faceless shades
In Empty robes
Lingering outside of perception
Near the corner of your eye
Over your shoulder
Behind the mirror.

3/24/18

Written in response to the Daily Post‘s prompt: Faceless.

Your Voice (a Tanka)

To find your true voice
Look within, observe yourself
Behold the pure you.
Ignore judgments from without,
Project your truth to the world.

9/12/17

Written in response to Colleen’s Weekly #Poetry Challenge No. 50 #Haiku #Tanka #Haibun: VOICE & WATCH, I substituted “observe” for “watch.”
