Personal Goals (a senryu)

Nourish and flourish
Pride in being authentic
Have hate for no one.

8/10/17

My response to Colleen’s Weekly #Poetry Challenge # 45 – #Haiku #Haibun or #Tanka: Hate & Pride

Living (Haiku)

Green leaf canopy
Wild nature living; thriving
Peaceful stillness flows

7/18-7/19/17

This is my response to Colleen’s Weekly #Poetry Challenge – #Haiku #Tanka #Haibun: CALM & WILD. I substituted “stillness” for “calm.”

In the Air (Haiku)

Sweet smell of flowers
Seasoning the air
Cool breeze through the trees.

7/9/17

My response to Colleen’s Weekly #Poetry Challenge # 40 – SUGAR & SPICE. I subsituted “Sweet” and “Seasoning” for “Sugar” and “Spice.”

Reflection (Haiku)

Standing on the pier
Face mirrored in the harbor
Tides are coming in

6/30/17

This is my response to Colleen’s Weekly #Poetry Challenge # 39 – MIRROR & HARBOR

Fire (Haiku)

Through the smokey veil
Devouring inferno
Timber burning black

6/13/17

This is my response to Colleen’s Weekly #Poetry Challenge # 37 – SMOKE & VEIL

Content (Senryu)

Pleased to be alive
Gardening in the hot sun
Grieving not its end.

6/6/17

This senryu (aka a “human haiku”) is my response to Colleen’s Weekly #Poetry Challenge # 36 – HAPPY & SAD. I subsituted the synonyms “Pleased” and “Grieving” for “Happy” and “Sad”

Now (A Senryu)

Now is all there is:
The past is a memory,
Future just a dream.

5/23/17

My response to Colleen’s Weekly #Poetry Challenge # 35 – PAST & FUTURE. It is, I believe, more a senryu than a haiku, so I hope that is acceptable (Actually, after learning of the senryu form I may have to reclassify some of my haiku anyway).

Peaceful (Haiku)

Warm green peaceful day
Cut grass scents the air around
No more tears will fall

4/25/17

Poem #29 for National Poetry Writing Month (aka #NaPoWriMo)

This Haiku is my second response to Colleen’s Weekly #Poetry Challenge # 31 – PEACE & TEAR

Leonard (a Haiku)

Birds on a wire
A murder of crows in flight
Its getting darker

4/17/17

Poem #18 for National Poetry Writing Month (aka #NaPoWriMo)

Cold Water (Haiku)

A chill in the air
Water hardened into ice;
Softened by the Sun.

4/11/17-4/12/17

Poem #14 for National Poetry Writing Month (aka #NaPoWriMo)

This Haiku is my second response to Colleen’s Weekly #Poetry Challenge # 28 – HARD & SOFT.
