Words (tetractys)

Mean what we
Agree they mean.
They have no substance but what we give them

Vibrations in the air; ink on the page
Are just symbols
We use to

My Own Words (Tanka)

Simple assignment:
Write this in your own words,
But no words are mine.
They belong to everyone,
I just rearrange them.

My response to Colleen’s Weekly #Tanka Tuesday #Poetry Challenge NO. 109, Happy November – “Poets Choice of Words”

Nothing to Fear (Tanka)

There is nothing to fear
About entering the tomb,
Nothing will happen
That didn’t happen to you
In the void before your birth.

Hallowed Lands (Tanka)

The enchanted mounds,
Possessed by the ancient sidhe,
Once revered as gods
Now forced under hollow hills
Still stalking our hallowed lands.

My response to Colleen’s Weekly #Tanka Tuesday #Poetry Challenge No. 107, “Haunt & Spell,” #SynonymsOnly

Note: sidhe is pronounced “shee”

The Empty House (Tanka)

In an empty house
Short stools; covered up mirrors
Filled with a spirit,
A shade that will never leave,
Shadows that will never lift.

My response (a little late) to Colleen’s #Tanka Tuesday #Poetry Challenge Recap No. 106, “Ghost & Hollow”, #SynonymsOnly

Haiku on Autumn Weather

Golden wet oak leaves
Mulch in puddles of decay
Earthworms turn the soil.

While it Lasts – a senryu

Enjoy the moments
As they come and pass away
Never to return.

Notions – tanka

Held oh so tightly
The most peculiar notions
’til knuckles are white.
Views must change to fit the facts,
Facts can’t change to fit your views.

My response to Colleen’s Weekly #Tanka Tuesday #Poetry Challenge No. 94, “Beliefs & Strange,” #SynonymsOnly.

A Senryu on Writer’s Block

Words are not flowing
The ink is dry in the well
I am struck speechless.

Inspiration – a tanka

The Nine Muses

Pen put to paper,
Record the gifts of the Muse,
Scribbled in frenzies,
Possessed hand cramped and swollen
Until the thought is finished

Response to Colleen’s Weekly #Tanka Tuesday #Poetry Challenge No. 93, “Inspiration & Plan,” #SynonymsOnly.
